What to Consider For Your Ceremony Styling Options

  1. Traditional English Venues full of Character and History

One of the delights of getting wed in the UK is the wide variety of stately homes we have as options. These grand wedding locations are rooted in history. With detailed architecture, they often exude character and authentic beauty. Another great feature of such venues is the vast land available to take wedding pictures and photographs.

I find that often such venues are decorated with very ornate carpets, extravagant chandeliers and gorgeous paintings. If you are getting married at a traditional English Manor Home or Stately Home, you want to keep your décor simple and graceful. Nothing that will clash too heavily with the natural fixtures of the venue.

For example, for this wedding at Addington Palace, the room had very dark wood on both the floor and walls. In order to lift the room we used Perspex chiavari chairs, complimented with Perspex plinths and statement glass vases. We then finished the look with a white petal aisle runner to break up the floor and neutral floral arrangements.

2. The Great Outdoors

Outdoor ceremonies are becoming increasingly popular. I don’t know if it’s just me, but the English Spring and Summer seem to be getting more and more promising of warm weather each year. Perhaps this is why couples are becoming more confident to plan an outdoor ceremony.

They are undeniably beautiful and provide the perfect backdrop for effortlessly beautiful wedding photographs and pictures. One thing that is important to bear in mind is that you don’t want to use chairs that are too heavy in weight, as these can sink into the grass and damage the landscape. With this in mind, Resin folding chairs and Chiavari chairs are good choices for outdoor ceremonies.

Another great tip is to try to have wooden underlay beneath the aisle runner if you intend to have one. So that your bridal party don’t sink into the aisle runner carpet whilst making their all important entrance.

3. Modern Venue

Modern venues have a tendency to have a light look and feel. The great advantage here is that they provide a blank canvas for décor and styling which is perfect for giving you options. You can either choose to go for a very pretty and clean look or you can go for bold and colourful. Either way there is flexibility with your theme and style. For this reason, these are the types of venues that many venue stylists love working with best because they create so many opportunities.

Personally I’m very much a colour type of girl, but many of our clients love the all white and ivory look. This has resulted in it being one of our popular looks. This particular ceremony design is one of our most requested.

What we are sure of is that whatever your wedding venue choice, we have the expertise and styling ‘know-how’ to ensure that your design not only works well with your venue, but also reflects and represents you in every way.

Tell us about your wedding or special event, we would love to hear all about it.
