A Spectacular Wedding at The Savoy Hotel: Our Floral Design Journey

When it comes to creating unforgettable wedding experiences, few venues rival the prestige and elegance of The Savoy Hotel. Recently, we had the honour of providing the floral design and centrepieces for a stunning wedding that hosted 250 guests in one of The Savoy’s exquisite ballrooms.

The Initial Site Visit and Design Inspiration

Upon my initial site visit to the ballroom, I was immediately struck by the room's ornate decor, rich with shades of blue in the wallpaper and carpet. The Savoy's ballroom, while luxurious, has minimal natural light, making it an ideal canvas for a design that incorporates the warm, intimate glow of candles. This element became a main feature of our centrepiece design.

Incorporating Candles for Warmth and Elegance

Candles are always my recommendation for venues like ballrooms that lack natural light. They provide a soft, romantic ambiance that enhances the overall aesthetic of the room. For this wedding, we integrated a mix of modern candelabras, our cylinder cluster centrepieces featuring floating candles and delicate votives within the floral arrangements. The candlelight reflected off the opulent décor, creating a magical, intimate atmosphere that was both elegant and inviting.

The Challenge: Blue Decor vs. Blush Pink Florals

The bride had her heart set on a blush pink colour scheme for the floral arrangements. With the room's dominant blue tones, I knew we needed a thoughtful approach to harmonize these contrasting colours. My solution was to incorporate dyed blue asparagus fern into the floral designs. This subtle addition of blue tied the arrangements to the room's existing decor seamlessly, ensuring a cohesive and sophisticated look.

Collaboration with Platinum Ace Events

For this event, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Platinum Ace Events for the production. Together, we selected blush pink uplighting, which beautifully complemented our floral designs and added a soft, romantic glow to the room. The uplighting highlighted the blush pink tones in the flowers and the blue accents, creating a stunning visual synergy that impressed all the guests.

By using candles to create warmth, incorporating subtle blue elements into the blush pink florals, and working with an experienced wedding planner, we achieved a harmonious and breathtaking result.
